Sr. Oracle DBA / Developer Position Summary:


AD’s Senior Database Administrator is responsible for the structure, organization, reliability, administration, and maintenance of AD databases. This position will ensure that the databases are properly backed up, performance tuned and properly linked for production systems and reporting. Additionally, this position will develop PL/SQL procedures and provide report development and support as required. The primary focus of this position is on the administration and development of all aspects of AD’s databases.

Sr. Oracle DBA / Developer Primary Responsibilities:


  • Primary technical resource for the design, documentation and administration of AD’s Oracle Databases.

  • Establish and maintain stable, reliable database environment that ensures access for AD production databases and associated systems.

  • Ensures that all necessary data located in AD’s databases is secure, and backed up on a routine basis.  Along with a documentation of the backup and recovery plan.

  • Performs capacity planning and performance tuning on all AD databases (production-QA-development).

  • Develops PL/SQL procedures and packages to query and update the Oracle DB.

  • Assists management in planning for systems changes and new systems as they relate to database and development requirements.

  • Assist in the IT budget process by providing recommendations for equipment and software, as well as maintenance contracts and upgrades relative to AD’s database requirements.

  • Maintain the necessary relationships with manufacturers of database products to ensure product warranties, updates, and maintenance agreements.

  • Provide project management for all assigned development activities.

  • Provide a status of all assigned project and activities on a regular basis.

  • Collaborate with other members of the IT department in projects and shared responsibility for systems integrity, availability, security, and access.

  • Provide information analysis and reporting.

  • Provide development support for AD’s Private Website and other internal applications

  • Ensuring license compliance of Oracle databases

  • Ensures AD’s databases are maintained / upgrade to the current Oracle releases (based upon recommendations to the most current release in the market).

  • Archiving relevant data for database performance and maintenance of archived data

  • Support for AD’s Oracle BI platform including ETL’s (data transfer), data security, data modeling, performance tuning, and database availability


Qualifications:


  • Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or comparable/equivalent experience.

  • A minimum of eight years Oracle experience.

  • Experience in both a Windows and Linux environment.

  • Experience using an extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) tool.  Informatica PowerCenter and/or Talend preferred.

  • A working knowledge of reporting tools and associated software. (BI Analyses, BI Publisher, Crystal Reports, SQL, PL/SQL, Scripts, etc.)

  • Experience with data warehouse modeling.

  • Effective written and oral communications skills.

  • Oracle Database certification (11g or 12c) preferred.

  • A working knowledge of Java programming a plus.

  • Experience moving databases to Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Oracle) a plus.
