Revenue Royalty Accountant


Position Description:

•         This position will report to the Revenue Royalty Supervisor and is responsible for creating and maintaining ownership decks, processing ownership transfers, as well as handling owner inquiries and discrepancies for business unit.

•         This position requires a self-starter who is able to work independently with good decision making skills while gathering and analyzing complex data from a wide range of sources. The source of data includes but is not limited to leases, contracts, division orders, title opinions and other such related documents.

•         The role requires someone familiar with the upstream energy business who regularly acquires knowledge of industry practices, trends, regulations, laws, rulings as they pertain to our core business activities.  This position requires someone with exposure to all facets of ownership including various interaction levels with internal and external business partners.

•         This person in this role must possess strong analytical skills, computer skills and general knowledge about the use of core computer applications along with related applications that support our business effort.  This position requires a person who can easily and professionally interact with the upstream organization using good interpersonal skills, while being aligned to company goals and objectives, and embracing Repsol’s values.



•         Ensure the timely and accurate payment of royalties.

•         Responsible for troubleshooting any issues with owner transfers, handling royalty inquiries changes in interest due to death or estate transactions.

•         Responsible for computing, verifying, processing, and promptly maintaining all division orders and transfer orders relating to the payment of royalties by entering and maintain division orders in Production Accounting Revenue system.

•         For all royalty payments received, appropriately identify mineral owner and verify division order percentage.

•         Follow up and resolve with Land or Legal, as required, any historical royalty payment issues.  

•         Preparation of monthly account analysis and reconciliations. 

•         Prepare ad-hoc reports as required.

•         Other duties and special projects as assigned.


Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

•         Seven plus years’ experience with Texas oil and gas revenue royalty accounting.

•         Working knowledge of Texas RRC requirements and lease requirements.

•         Detail oriented with strong analytical skills.

•         Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.

•         Organized with ability to balance multiple priorities.

•         Strong Excel skills

•         Experience with SAP and production revenue royalty systems.
