Job Description

We have a client that is Detroit, Michigan-based utility incorporated in 1995 involved in the development and management of energy-related businesses and services nationwide. They are looking for a Network Security/Compliance Consultant

Network Security Responsibilities

  • Works as a team member to provide Level 3 or specialized support as defined by client, makes recommendations and supports projects as part of a team, and may participate in the development and/or research of advanced technologies.
  • The IT Network Engineer participates in ongoing infrastructure support, analysis of network use/design, and assists in future planning of the infrastructure.
  • Works under general supervision and direction following documented processes and procedures.
  • Assignments are received in the form of results expected; within operating policies and procedures.
  • Incumbent has the discretion to select from alternative approaches; decisions may involve changes to normal work processes.

Network Security Skills

  • Bachelor degree in an applicable information technology discipline or Associate Degree in information technology and 5+ years’ experience in given discipline or technology.
  • UNIX experience and/or Compliance/Risk Management experience
  • Industrial Control System experience preferred
  • Maintain and ensure availability of production and test systems
  • Implement and upgrade security measures and controls
  • Participate in vulnerability testing, risk analyses and security assessments
  • Participate in vulnerability and networking scanning assessments
  • Perform monthly change testing
  • Participate monthly change implementation
  • Participate in internal security and compliance audits
  • Work with team to implement and maintain malicious code prevention systems
  • Understand internal security awareness and security procedures and educate fellow employees in their practice
  • Use, configure and support security tools such as firewalls, anti-virus software, patch management systems, etc.
  • Implement network security policies, application security, access control and corporate data safeguards
  • Participate in the development and update of recovery plans
  • Provide technical security advice
  • Documentation and improvements of process and procedures
  • Support proof-of-concept and testing for future projects
