Job Title: Financial Crimes Specialist

Location: Charlotte, NC

Hours: 8am- 5pm

Duration: 6 month Contract

Pay Rate: $28/hr

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for investigative research, root cause analysis and consulting regarding highly complex financial crimes transactions, policy violations and/or suspicious situations with moderate to high risk.  Typically handles complex cases with some visibility.  Duties include any or all of the following: conducts investigative research using appropriate investigative techniques to determine liability and impact of cases including mitigation of financial losses or business interruptions; performs detailed analyses to detect patterns, trends, anomalies and schemes in transactions and relationships across multiple businesses/products; develops and implements testing strategies and methodologies; evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes and internal controls; reviews and analyzes findings to determine level of risk; drafts corrective action plans and assists in managing change to prevent/mitigate risk; performs risk analysis and modeling as a precursor to building financial crimes strategies and models that directly impact Operating losses and indirectly impact Credit losses. Provides input to the development and delivery of a wide range of training for team members involved in issue detection.   Creates and conducts education for financial crimes awareness.  Acts as an escalation point for more complex cases.  Acts as a liaison with Legal and law enforcement agencies; may represent organization in handling court appearances, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, etc.  May specialize in a particular type of financial crime.: 6+ years of experience in fraud, BSA/AML or investigations of financial crimes transactions or policy violations.

This position will not focus on extensive review of transactional data or quantitative trends. This team is seeking individuals who can absorb multiple sources of information and effectively communicate a summary of that review in writing in an efficient, grammatically-sound, well-organized, and thematically-structured presentation. The individual will excel in critical thinking and be able to logically consider how to mitigate risk based on information available publicly and internally. Consultant will swiftly learn the bank's two primary systems of record for evaluation of money laundering risk, understanding how the Enhanced Due Diligence team fits into the process of onboarding high-risk customers and conducting periodic review; Consultant will diligently follow team's written procedures with attention to detail, ensuring no steps are missed and that required documentation is saved to appropriate locations in a well-organized manner; Seeking self-starter consultants with a sincere desire to advance in this industry; ability to respond to training and coaching, ask questions, and work as a team;

 

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

•       Candidate must be an effective writers who can step into a risk mitigation space and report on / summarize due diligence already performed, with a bit of top up (analyze recent news, e.g.).

•       Candidates must have or quickly obtain skills/knowledge of customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence fundamentals, understanding how different aspects of customer relationship contribute to risk of money laundering:

-        Country

-        Product

-        negative news

-        industry type, etc

•       Candidates need to have experience with writing reports and memoranda concerning the AML risk elements indicated in the customer profile, including an effective distillation of due diligence already performed to eliminate unnecessary duplication of effort;

•       Need to be skilled at crafting professional e-mail communications and answering phone calls to liaise between the EDD process and business stakeholders who contribute key inputs to written work product;

•       Knowledge of broker-dealer business and securities / investment industry and especially in regards to AML compliance or the standard broker-dealer product offering - fixed-income, prime brokerage, equities, investment banking;

•       Knowledge of Section 312 of Patriot Act; Bank Security Act and implementing regulations; FINCEN CDD Rule; CIP/CDD/EDD/KYC standards; financial crimes investigations;

•       exposure to regulatory controls in a financial services environment;

•       Proficiency in Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SharePoint;

•       Bachelor’s or graduate degree in business, finance, financial crimes, law (juris doctor), criminal justice, or economics.
