Distribution Design Manager



Job Summary:




•         This position is will design and maintain the warehouse layout and equipment standards, support warehouse capacity planning and space optimization efforts, and to drive innovation, automation and continuous improvement throughout the materials management function.




•         A successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of warehouse operations, space utilization and storage solutions, material management processes and technologies, experience using Lean principles to drive waste elimination projects, and have strong communication, influencing, analytics and project management skillset.





Job Description:



 



Key responsibilities include:




•         Develop and implement global warehouse and equipment standards




•         Support warehouse capacity planning and space optimization projects utilizing Lean principles




•         Liaison between real estate and local operations on new warehouse layout and design projects 




•         Develop and maintain a warehouse space capacity planning tool




•         Leverage technology to automate and streamline inventory storage, material handling, data collection




•         Identify and assess opportunities for inventory consolidation, lead time improvement, network optimization, and vendor managed/owned inventory solutions




•         Facilitates transfer of best practices and continuous improvement efforts across the organization 




•         Coach field materials and logistics personnel on Lean concepts, principles and tools




•         Possess the ability to handle multiple priorities and identify creative solutions to complex problems




•         Maintain awareness of industry trends and innovation for warehousing and material handling activities




•         Perform other special assignments and duties as may be required



 



Basic Qualifications:




•         Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business or related field required




•         Good understanding of Lean methodology and concepts




•         Minimum 5 years in warehouse/distribution operations 




•         Ability to handle multiple priorities and identify creative solutions to complex problems




•         Proven success in influencing, persuasion and gaining cross functional support




•         Ability to develop actionable results, align support, and implement successfully




•         High level of verbal and written communications skills




•         Strong project management and problem solving skill




•         Strong collaboration skills




•         Experience leading / driving change, and mentor for new leaders or peers




•         Flexibility to travel globally up to 30%




Preferred Qualifications:




•         Industrial Distribution, Engineer or similar disciplines




•         Oil and Gas service industry experience




•         Certification in Supply Chain Management (APICS/ISM), Lean, Project Management
