JOB DESCRIPTION:


The Senior Performance Database Engineer will be working closely with the performance test leads, project teams, other engineering areas and application development leads to understand, collect and review the performance benchmarks and requirements. Develop, execute and maintain test scenarios and test scripts that exercise production-like scenarios to ensure that change is optimized for performance in order to satisfy the customer experience. The Senior Performance Database Engineer should be able to diagnose and troubleshoot performance/capacity related issues and be able to communicate the finding with the Project leadership.


Requirements:


  • 7 - 10 years of DB2 experience, DB2 LUW and partitioned databases/ DPF environment.

  • Strong knowledge and extensive experience with DB2 UDB RDBMS technologies is mandatory including good understanding of BLU acceleration.

  • Should have strong UNIX platform skills and understanding of network, storage, tiered application environments and security.

  • Strong understanding of OS system tuning.

  • Familiarity with AI/ML and how this technology could provide a benefit to the database environment.

  • Experience in working with Db2 SQL performance tuning and db2 specific tools such as db2pd, db2top, db2advis,db2explain, db2diag.

  • Strong knowledge in physical database design, sql optimization and capacity planning.

  • Be able to make hardware recommendations based on performance test results.

  • Proficient in utilization of Performance Engineering Tools and scripting.

  • Strong scripting abilities using bash/ksh .

  • Ability to build large environments that scale.

  • Forward thinking individual that can evaluate new hardware solutions ( such as Optane or NVMe) and deploy them to maximize performance of the database and/or application environment.

  • To be able to re-think old architectures and provide more current solutions that benefit Morgan Stanley's businesses.


Desired Experience: Greenplum, Sybase and Python.Knowledge of storage devices such as NVMe is a plus.
