Xtreme, a Pacific Northwest division of DISYS is currently recruiting for a BI Developer.  This contract opportunity is with a global auto-manufacturing company in beautiful Portland, OR. Our client is committed to work/life balance.  Having partnered with this client for over 20 years, average consultant assignments last 18-24 months. General / Project Application Developer OPEN SYSTEMS:

 •Work with Business, Architects and System Analysts to fully understand the business requirements and translate them into Conceptual, Logical and Physical models

•Uses a variety of information gathering techniques (e.g., interviews, facilitation, diagrams) to gather complex business data requirements from Business teams

•Coordinate data models, data dictionaries, and other database documentation across multiple applications

•Leads design reviews of data deliverables such as models, data flows, and data quality assessments

•Partner with development and QA teams to communicate the business rules, data models and ensure test cases target the quality and integrity of the data model

•Partner with DBAs to transform logical data models into physical database designs while optimizing the performance and maintainability of the physical database

•Perform data analysis, discovery, profiling and identify cause of data issues and work with broader team to resolve

•Develop solid understanding of the various source data sets and assist in laying out the overall data design solutions

•Promotes data modeling standardization, defines and drives adoption of the standards

•Work with Data Management to establish governance processes around metadata to ensure an integrated definition of data for enterprise information, and to ensure the accuracy, validity, and reusability of metadata

•Develop ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes according to company and industry Best Practices

•Conduct ETL reviews for design and Best Practices. Define and drive adoption of Best Practices and Standards for ETL processes

•Coordinate data and reporting requirements with off-shore developers and review work products for accuracy and completeness in meeting those requirements

•Engage and build strong working relationships with IT, Business and Sourcing partners

•Strong knowledge with BI tools, standards and practices

•Strong knowledge of core ETL processing, reporting and dashboards

 Required Skills/Experience

•Proficiency with data modeling tools, such as ER/Studio, ERwin etc. Skilled in a various forms of data modeling

•Experience with modeling normalized and de-normalized data structures using ERwin or similar tools. ETL / Data Warehouse Management

•Hands on Dimensional and E-R data modeling of physical, conceptual and logical data models experience using Erwin tool only.

•Skills to Architect, design and implement enterprise-class data models (relational and dimensional). A strong knowledge of standard data modeling patterns and best practices

•The skills to work with many diverse data domains including Customer Master Data, Call Data, Equipment data, Manufacturing data, Sales data, Financial data, etc.

•Skills to develop well designed ETL processes using Informatica Power Center

•Experience working closely with data architects, subject matter and technical experts, and system data models in order to accurately represent as-is and to-be processes

•Hands on experience with data management platforms (Db2 Blu, DB2, Sql server etc)

•Knowledge of CA ESP workstation or Autosys or similar scheduling tool.

•SQL Performance Tuning

•Experience communicating requirements to off-shore ETL developers and Report developers

•The skills to perform data modeling activities. Expertise with enterprise level data modeling tool such as ER/Studio. Expert knowledge of data architecture strategies and data governance strategies

•Experience with logical data modeling (ERwin). Experience with enterprise integration patterns and best practices

•10+ years of IT experience with several years in hands on Data Architecture, Modeling and Strategy

•5+ years of experience with data architecture across a broad range of solutions

•5+ years of experience with Informatica design and development experience

•3+ years of experience with data management or data integration/conversion

•3+ years of experience with data modeling, using industry standard tools, preferable Erwin


 Preferred Skills/Experience (These are the “nice-to-have” skills.)

 •Current Industry knowledge of forward looking data technologies (Big Data, Hadoop, MongoDB, In memory DB’s and streaming data)

•Demonstrated ability to partner and collaborate across organizations to craft innovative solutions that drive customer-centric outcomes

•Ability to think strategically and translate plans into phased actions in a fast paced, high pressure environment

•Strong presentation skills necessary to communicate with, and persuade, a wide range of audiences

•Experience with scaled systems and understanding of data and system integration; should also have a good understanding of security from a data and process perspective

•Customer-driven mindset and insatiable appetite for engineering excellence and drive for outcomes

•Informatica Power Center Developer Certification •Knowledge of AIX Unix commands

•Experience in Db2 Stored procedures •Agile Development Methodology
