Active Directory Engineer/Admin

Job Summary:

  • The Active Directory Engineer provides a single point of contact to the organization for Active Directory (AD) and Windows server operating systems components. They will serve as an escalation point for the Windows Server Operations Team. The AD Engineer will be based in Houston, TX and will manage the day-to-day activities involving AD and Windows Server operating system core components including, but not limited to the following: Designing, developing, testing, implementing, maintaining and supporting complex components of the AD infrastructure, assisting IT staff with troubleshooting and planning changes to the environment, capacity planning, future strategic direction and documenting. The Active Directory Engineer will work under the day to day direction of the XTO Windows Server and Storage Solutions Manager.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Architect, design and implement solutions for AD infrastructure for efficiency and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Assure compliance with security and controls for AD and Windows operating systems
  • Periodically perform internal assessment to assure compliance with controls
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators and metrics for supported operations
  • Monitoring and performance tuning for both AD and Windows operating systems including connectivity, synchronization, replication, netlogon, time services, FSMO roles, schema, NTDS database partitions, AD Backup and Recovery, ADFS, certificate authorities and trust relationships.
  • Provide operational guidance and serve as a central escalation point for all Microsoft server related technologies such as, but not limited to: Active Directory, Group Policies, AD Trusts, AD Sites and Services, Microsoft Identity Manager, PKI, and DFS.
  • Documentation of system configuration and standard operating procedures
  • After-hours support as needed

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree/work experience
  • Demonstrated work experience in AD and support of Microsoft OS related products
  • Working understanding of network authentication protocols (Kerberos and NTLM)
  • Working knowledge of Splunk, Puppet and PowerShell scripting
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders
  • Possesses excellent project management and organizational competencies
  • Proven ability to manage short deadlines, emergency situations and changing priorities
  • Flexibility in traveling to Fort Worth for on boarding training.
  • Must be local to Houston area
  • MUST speak fluent English and have strong analytical and communication skills
